I had been using the other Cats Desire Litter box for about a year. They worked well wanted to try these to see if I could get my "Mr. Kitty" to use a top entry box. So I left the box open for a couple of days so he could get used to it. On the morning of the third day I put the lid on and made open the side entry so he could begin to get used to using it with a lid. After about a week I made open the top hole too. He now uses both ways to get in and out of the box. I am hopeful that when I change this box out I can just use the top hole only as I think that would best stop any litter scatter. I must say the box is holding up well at three weeks, no signs of leaks. I use it without the flex pad and will just drop that over the dirty litter when I throw it away. If I had two or more cats I would use that as an extra barrier on the bottom. What I most like with these is no more plastic smell as over time the odor always got into plastic. One happy kitty!

I have used several of the disposable litter boxes over the past few years. Each has it's issues. Most of them are just too small. This box is large enough for my "Big Boy". He used to spray over the sides on the other ones but can't do that with this one. He wasn't sure about the lid at first so I gradually over a couple of weeks left the lid off then used the side hole and now he uses the lid with the top hole no problem. They are lasting easily a month and then I put down a fresh one. I use a good clumping litter and keep it at about 3 inches deep. Before I throw it away I put the extra pad over the used litter and just fill it up with house trash that way I'm not wasting space in my garbage can. I can't say enough about this one....
