As most of the United States is under sub zero temperatures, its simply too cold to let the cat(s) outside. It only takes a few minutes to produce frostbite when the temperature is this extreme. Numbers don't work as well when you are over 50. I've had cats my entire life. As a child traveling in a military family the cats often came with the trailer park.
